  • During subtask B.2, the Contractor shall prepare for, recruit, and perform a limited re-examination of all surviving and willing SHS participants for Phase VII. During this period, the Field Center shall provide appropriate personnel with expertise in cardiovascular epidemiology, clinical and subclinical cardiovascular disease, tribal community relations, community-based research in American Indian communities, laboratory measurements, clinic operations and administrative and operational management. Key personnel must be designated to lead and manage the study who have appropriate qualifications. The principal investigator shall have: (1) training and experience in cardiovascular epidemiology; (2) demonstrated excellence as a manager and collaborator; and (3) experience successfully retaining participants in an epidemiology study. The co-investigator(s) shall be knowledgeable in scientific areas relevant to the study, and skilled in study design and data analysis. One co-investigator must be designated who is qualified to temporarily serve in the place of the principal investigator as needed. Staff with expertise in clinic procedures and measures (including medical staff and clinical coordinator), participant retention, data analysis, data management, clinical events investigations and community relations are also necessary. The Contractor shall provide qualified staff to conduct the exam and exam closeout. The Contractor shall work collaboratively throughout the period of performance with the Coordinating Center, other Field Centers, and ancillary study investigators for orderly completion of the Phase VII exam.
