  • Project summary: The Massachusetts Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center requests a diversity supplement to support hiring a Mexican American post-baccalaureate student in their Neuropathology Core. The student requests support to provide scientific training and mentoring to enhance her goal of attending graduate school, with the plan to obtain a PhD in Neuroscience. The planned experiences include training in neuroanatomy, neurohistology, advanced imaging methods, neuropathology, tissue preparation techniques, and neuronal cell culture. These experiences are within the scope of the funded MADRC Neuropathology core. The candidate will be mentored scientifically and for career growth by a mentoring team of Dr Matthew Frosch, Director of the Neuropathology Core, Dr Hyman, Director of the Center, Dr Oakley, a junior faculty neuropathologist, and two members of the faculty who may be able to provide examples of successful role models as well as mentoring and support – Dr Teresa Gomez Isla and Dr Liliana Gomez Ramirez, both members of the MADRC team.
